What did Abraham Lincoln, Robert E. Lee and George Herman "Babe" Ruth all have in common?

Yes, they were all very important figures in American history. From Presidents to a famous Baseball Player, their legends continue to live on.

But, the real answer here is that they were all protected with insurance from The Hartford.

  • 1859: General Robert E. Lee applied to The Hartford for $5,800 of insurance on his home in Arlington, Virginia.
  • 1861: The Hartford issued Abraham Lincoln a policy for $3,200 of insurance to cover his home in Springfield, Illinois for a consideration of Twenty-four dollars.
  • 1920: The Hartford issued Babe Ruth's first insurance policy from the American Baseball League of New York City against loss of time and any casualties.
