| The Hartford Introduces an Innovative Way for Agents to Market Through LinkedIn |

In the first quarter of 2014, roughly 10 percent of all visitors to thehartford.com access the Agency Locator month over month. Launched in the fall of 2012, the Agency Locator helps consumers locate an agency offering The Hartford's products. And we're excited to announce several recently-implemented enhancements; in particular users can access an agent's LinkedIn account, unlocking more opportunities to market your agency through increased exposure to potential new customers.
Effective July 12, 2014, Agency Locator now provides expanded, more robust agent information which includes:
- Search by agent name and location, a new feature allowing the user to search on an agent's name. A personalized information 'bubble' will display when the agent's name is selected from the results list.
This new feature can be used by agents who are registered with The Hartford's eBusiness Center (EBC).* Once registered, agents should go to Admin at the top of the page, select Edit My Profile. Scroll down to Marketing Programs Opt-In and agree to be included in the Agency Locator. Going forward, when the agent's name is selected from search results, information will be displayed in a bubble, as shown below. The information pulled from areas of the Profile includes:
Telephone number
Email address
Office location
Products sold
Industries serviced languages spoken
Text box about you (up to 250 words)
The Agent Profile will also contain a link to a form that captures contact information, and when completed and submitted, is emailed to the agent for follow-up.
*Contact your agency administrator and/or Agency Interface Services (AIS) for assistance registering on EBC.
- Search by LinkedIn relationships is a feature somewhat unique to the industry. As an early-adopter, The Hartford's Agent Locator allows consumers to access their LinkedIn account and search their primary and secondary contacts for agents in their LinkedIn network who have opted-in to this feature.
Agents may participate in Search by LinkedIn Contact by opting-in to this feature through their EBC Agent Profile which will allow The Hartford to capture their unique LinkedIn ID and their photo. Once this information is in our database, the agent's name will be displayed in the results if they are in the searcher's LinkedIn network.
- Search by agency name and location is a new feature allowing the user to enter an agency name in the search box.
- Newly-designed screens to improve user experience. The revised designs provide additional search functionality and an enlarged layout with search results expanded from 30 to 100, displayed ten pages at a time. An agency selection will return a simple display of information about the agency, including phone number and email address.
Agencies not showing in the tool may have had contracts with The Hartford prior to the implementation of Agency Locator. Your agency administrator should call The Hartford's Licensing and Contracting organization to opt-in and update contact information, as necessary, such as adding the agency website address.
